Our standard
Evidence above noise.
Every dossier separates the reported observation from its consequences. Uncertainty stays visible.
Three questions, judged separately
Each dossier records three claims separately: whether a drone was present, whether there was an impact (such as a closure or damage), and whether an operator has been identified. A confirmed airport closure can sit next to an unconfirmed drone. Each claim cites the specific sources that support it.
Evidence states
Confirmed: the cited material explicitly establishes the claim. Reported: a source describes the claim without sufficient identification evidence. Inconclusive: the available investigation or assessment does not establish or exclude it. Debunked: cited evidence contradicts the specific claim. For impact, Not established means that no cited source reports an impact; it does not mean there was none.
Operator attribution
Attribution is recorded as not established, suspected, claimed, charged, convicted or officially attributed, and always needs a supporting source. A party’s claim of responsibility is not independent proof, and a charge is not a court finding. We do not speculate about operators or intent.
Sources are not votes
A source family means the originating organisation behind a first-hand statement. Articles repeating that statement belong to the same family. Statements by parties to a conflict are shown as their claims. We show original sources and source-family counts, without presenting those counts as automatic verification. Official statements can be revised.
Automatically compiled dossiers
Some dossiers are compiled automatically from public sources and are labelled as such until they have been curated. In those dossiers every claim must be supported by a passage in the cited source, claims by parties to a conflict are never shown as confirmed, and attribution is never inferred.
Corrections are part of the record
Dossiers include a source-linked chronology, a review date and explicit unknowns. The current evidence state may differ from the first report. Every editorial change is stored as a revision with a short public explanation, shown in the dossier.
Coverage and location
DroneLedger is a curated archive, not a complete record of all incidents, and it does not provide live detection or current airport or airspace status. Coordinates indicate an approximate airport, city or region, never a measured drone position; incidents known only at country level appear in the list without a map pin. Event dates and source publication dates are shown separately.
Responsible use
We publish concise original summaries and links, not copied news articles. We do not publish the positions of air defences or troops. Follow airports and authorities for operational instructions.
Open data
All published dossiers are available as CSV and JSON, including source links, source families and evidence states.
Map credit
Country boundaries use public-domain Natural Earth data. Map boundaries are for orientation.
