Helsinki airport traffic paused as precaution after drone warning
Current state
Helsinki Airport traffic was suspended on 15 May 2026 after a precautionary drone warning. At a later government press conference, Defence Forces said they had no information or observations of drones entering Finland. An airport incursion is not established.

Finavia confirms air traffic was interrupted by authority decision from 04:00 to 07:00 local time, followed by delays and cancellations. Airport premises remained open. This confirms disruption from the precaution, not physical harm caused by a drone.
Finavia provides its own operational account. Yle reports a separate government press conference and Defence Forces assessment. These are distinct original accounts of operations and threat assessment; neither provides an independently verified airport drone detection.

| Claim and source passage | Original source | Assessment |
|---|---|---|
| Finavia records the authority-ordered interruption. “Lentoliikenne Helsinki-Vantaalle oli viranomaisen päätöksellä keskeytetty 15.5. kello 04-07.” [1] | Finavia (relayed) | supports: Literal Finnish airport update; 04:00–07:00 EEST (UTC+3), not the webpage update clock. |
| Defence Forces said they had no information or observations of drones entering Finland. “У нас немає інформації чи спостережень про те, що безпілотники цього разу потрапили на територію Фінляндії” [2] | Finnish Defence Forces at government press conference (relayed) | contradicts: Literal Ukrainian Yle translation of the Finnish briefing. Contradicts an assertion of observed entry; does not establish a non-drone explanation. |

Not established
No drone entry, device, operator or responsible party is established. Earlier tentative Yle reporting is superseded here by its later briefing report. Absence of observations is not proof identifying a different object: no balloon explanation or categorical debunk invented. The city-region marker represents the affected airport area, not an airborne object position.
No operator or responsible organisation established by the reviewed sources.
