Orlan-30
A compact selection from this profile, with sources and limits. Other configurations and additional measurements remain in the full profile.
A Russian reconnaissance aircraft from STC, related to Orlan-10 but with a different published airframe and sensor configuration. GUR’s catalogue and Rosoboronexport’s export sheet describe separate declared performance envelopes. Flight range, radio reach and laser-designation capability are different properties; none identifies a model in an incident without a source naming it.[1][2][3]
Public-source profile. Performance claims are attributed; type links do not verify an incident identification.
Form, sound & identification limits
- The export sheet gives a 90–150 km/h speed envelope, at most 40 kg take-off mass and at most eight hours. GUR lists a 170 km/h maximum. These are not repeated measurements of one specimen and are not collapsed into a single uncertainty interval.[1][2]
- The export sheet identifies an electro-optical complex with a laser rangefinder/designator. It supports the reconnaissance/designation role, not a claim that every photographed Orlan carries that payload. The catalogue’s 600 km flight figure is separate from its 120 km communication distance.[1][2]
- Both sources are interested institutions: Russia’s exporter and Ukrainian military intelligence. Their independent publications establish catalogue scope, not independent flight certification. Orlan-10 values are not inherited by Orlan-30.[1][2]
Shape or sound alone cannot identify a drone. Follow local public-safety alerts; do not approach wreckage.
