IAI Harpy

An Israeli anti-radiation loitering-munition family developed by IAI. Its radar-emission seeker distinguishes it from the electro-optical Harop and from Mini Harpy. IAI’s current product claim and SIPRI’s historical autonomy research serve different purposes: one advertises a system, the other analyses how this weapon category developed. Historical and current versions must remain separate.[1][2]

One scale. Different machines.

No scaled drawing is provided for this configuration. See the sourced dimensions and their limitations.

Human height is an illustrative 1.8 m; bus length an illustrative 12 m. Car length uses the cited MINI specification. Vehicle heights and drone side contours are schematic. Top views preserve published length and span; an absent dimension is never guessed.

One car length here is 3.821 m: MINI Cooper 3 door, March 2020 specification.

Form, sound & identification limits

  • IAI currently advertises missions lasting up to nine hours. This is a manufacturer claim for the product page consulted, not a retroactive specification for the early Harpy systems discussed by SIPRI. No historical warhead, cost or airframe dimension is transferred to the current system.[1][2]
  • SIPRI places Harpy in the early history of anti-radar loitering weapons and examines autonomy by function. That analysis is an independent research origin, not a second endurance test. “Autonomous” must not be read as a universal account of every configuration or every incident.[2]
  • Harop has its own profile. Mini Harpy is also a separate product, with its own seeker combinations and published figures. Similar names, transport canisters and loitering roles do not make those specifications interchangeable.[1][2]

Shape or sound alone cannot identify a drone. Follow local public-safety alerts; do not approach wreckage.

No licensed, model-attested recording is available in our sound library.

What does it cost?

Published USD figures use different price bases and years. Airframes, export packages and support are not equivalent. These are not current offers or verified production costs.
